Welcome to the Hotel “Calabria” ***, which is ideally situated along one of the longest (12 km) cleanest stretches of beach of Calabria, in the town of Praia a Mare – one of the most popular resorts of the Tyrrhenian coast of Italy. Here begins the famous Riviera dei Cedro (Citron Coast “).
We offer comfortable and cosy rooms with magnificent views of the sea and the island of Dino. The rooms include TV, shower, air conditioning, telephone, and most rooms have a balcony.
It’s impossible not to mention one of the main attractions of Praia a Mare: Dino Island views of which guests can admire from the window of their own rooms. It is the largest island of Calabria, which is a wildlife sanctuary, on which grow unique rare plant species. Island Dino known since early times for its temple dedicated to the Madonna Della Grotta. From a rocky cliff near the island rises a tower – all that remains of the Byzantine guard tower. The island is surrounded by numerous bays, caves, & grotto’s most famous of which are: Sardinia, Leone and Pediment. You can tour Dino Island by water.
As for active recreational activities there is: diving, rafting, parascending, cycling, beach volleyball and for fans of equestrian sports we recommend our partners from Marat, www.mararanch.it.
Not far from the hotel (700 m) is the largest water park in the area “Acquafans”. (www.acquafans.it).This may significantly add diversity to your holiday, especially popular with children.
From some of the rooms of our hotel you can enjoy views of the ancient cave where, from the XIV century there has been kept a miraculous statue of the Madonna. Here it is called the Madonna della Grotta (Cave Madonna). In Praia, Madonna is loved and revered in her honour, frequent parades and festivals take place.
We offer our guests a restaurant with typical Calabrian cuisine. Which is simple, genuine and healthy but also characterized by strong flavours.
